Hey I'm Laura, aka 'Lola'. I grew up in the greater Toronto area, however I recently relocated to the North Glengarry area in Eastern Ontario. I have been engaged with creative pursuits in many forms and mediums from a very young age. In my late twenties I was presented with an opportunity to train as a professional goldsmith, and having been obsessed with jewellery, beads and gemstones my entire life, I just had to go for it!
I graduated with honors from the Jewellery Methods program at George Brown College in 2015, and did subsequent training in Gemmology at the Canadian

Gemmological Association in 2016. After working for several other professional jewellers, I launched LOLA Jewellery in 2018 as a 'side hustle', and the business continues to expand every year. I now work exclusively out of my home studio in Alexandria, Ontario, and I use traditional metalsmithing techniques like soldering, forging, sawing, polishing, enamelling, etching and texturing to achieve striking pieces using sterling silver, gold fill, copper, and precious gemstones.
The inspiration for my pieces comes from my appreciation for precious and semi precious metals and gemstones. I still can't wrap my head around the earth's ability to create such stunning, colorful forms!! I also enjoy the art of off loom seed bead weaving. I find this practice to be a very soothing and meditative one, and I really enjoy creating these intricate mini tapestries and incorporating them into my jewellery designs. My collection tends to run the gamut from completely hand-fabricated, one of a kind pieces, to simpler assembled pieces using beads and high quality findings. I try to keep my prices reasonable while at the same time reflecting the level of skill and time that goes into each piece.

In my spare time outside the studio I enjoy reading, spending time in nature, gardening, baking, podcasts, and hanging out with my dog sidekick, Scully the affable Labrador.
